PYRE (2021)

Pyre was a mixed media live performance sculpture which was enacted in 2021.

Pyre itself is the artistic practice of creating an object with the intention of modifying it by introducing an unstable process to an already existing work. In this case Graham’s own sculpture “Manufactured Organic” Which was created on 2019.

Taking it through a Pyre process the live depiction showed the transformation of the sculpture into a process itself and the artist only controlling the level of influence they had but with no control of the outcome.

“I wanted to demonstrate the inevitable nature of change. By applying a material to the sculpture I could as “man” be able to control the output of the event but not the result.

Participating in what any human in society does: Trying instigate progress whether it is destructive or not. The cycle of  growth and decay of the products and structures we make along with the reality of man causing it’s own invention and destruction. And of course the ego of man to live stream the event as it was.”
