In 2017 I started recording Yelling At Concrete and not long after i took the name as my online handle. Now nearly ten years into the run though the format has gradually changed, the topics have been numerous and the technology has moved forward my enjoyment for sitting down and talking something through has not.

The podcast began through conversation and discussion with friends like so many good things and since has grown from a venture to document the passions and wandering thoughts of the people I know to a now global show of guests who bring me a topic and we discuss! 

I describe it as ‘Probably the most relaxed show on Youtube’ As that’s my goal. The guest picks the topic and the format is unedited audio so instead of bullet running canned questions we can actually talk and I can find out more about the world around me in the process.

This week I sit down with myself and do something I dislike. Document my work. I've always said social media and content creation is coursework for creatives. It relies on un stunting our own exploration for the sake of having an audience present when we eventually release something. So this week I sit down to discuss that struggle and maybe find advice in the comments as to how to document your creative process and how not to. This week I sit down with Tricia Duffy. Creator, teacher, writer, singer and host of her own podcast "in ten years time". Tricia found me in this instance and we decided to sit down and talk many topic but notably the impact of the creative process on mental state and its value to cognitive health. Tricia like myself involves herself in many things and in doing so is completing a PHD on the topic of creative practice and how it can be a benefit to your physical well being in many way which are often overlooked. Since beginning I’ve been very lucky to talk to people from all over the world including guests I’ve admired for a long while such as Graham Annabelle (Director of BoxTrolls, Creator of Grickle), David McWayne (Singer of Big D and the Kids table) and Neil Kohney (Creator of The Other End Comics). There are numerous others to mention and I continue to be surprised by how open and willing people are to lend me an hour and let me pick their brain but I appreciate each one who does. 

If you’re at all interested you’ll find some links below to watch/listen to the show and the latest trailer. I have a long term goal of making the show self sustaining and introduce more and more people to this style of relaxed cast but for now I’m quite happy to turn on a mic and grab a guest and continue to yell at concrete.
