If there is one thing I have tried to keep as my motto it is that you do not need much to bring an idea to life. I love working with others and bringing ideas to life and fill my personal time with projects which I hope continue to bring creative opportunities to others such as funding festivals, distributing zines and building projects.
However in doing these things I have often been asked “How can i help?”, “How can I learn more?” and “How do you find the time?”.
Well the last one I can say i often don’t. I’d love to do this full time as an artist however projects do not fund themselves and I strike a balance of spending my free time exploring this chase for catharsis and working toward creating my chaos.
As for how you can help and learn more? Well there are a couple of ways.
Every month I put out a mailer detailing the upcoming and previous months work! In a world where social media and algorithms have made it harder and harder to get the info we want I decided to just strike up an e-mail mailer. In subscribing to it you help me get the messages out about my work, support the causes I work with and generally give me a high five every time you open one which feels amazing to know someone would be interested.
Recently I established a Patreon. As mentioned I do work a “regular” job to fund all my projects but I also love the idea of public ownership of work I do to bring opportunities to the public.
As such I established a patreon for just a single Dollar or Pound a month and if I can reach my funding goal will officially be able to make the podcast entirely publicly funded and might even be able to do more with it!
It’s a very new venture for me and I’m extremely grateful for anyone who signs up but who knows maybe if I find enough people in exercising their creative selves we can fund the Zine Fest and more!
